Apex Kids Day! When the Little Ones Take Over the Office

On Friday, February 21st, Apex opened its doors to some very special visitors—our employees' children! Eight kids joined us for our first "Apex Kids Day," where they got a firsthand look at where their parents work, learned about what we do, and strengthened family bonds during this memorable day.

Why We Hosted Apex Kids Day

  • Learning About Work: Helping children understand the meaning and value of work by seeing their parents in action

  • Strengthening Family Bonds: Promoting parent-child communication and deepening family connections

  • Social Skills Development: Learning communication skills, manners, and rules while understanding how school life connects to the working world

This event was organized by employees who recently returned from maternity leave and a Human Resources team member who is a mother of three. The organizers hoped that by helping children understand their parents' work lives, families would enjoy more meaningful communication and deeper connections at home. In today's world where dual-income households are the norm, they wanted to create positive impressions about working life while showing off Apex's diverse culture and global perspective.

For employees, this event offered a chance to gain new insights into the lives of colleagues who balance parenting and professional responsibilities every day, deepening mutual understanding among team members.

A Day Full of Fun and Learning

The event featured a packed schedule that made the day special for both children and parents.

Business Card Exchange & Office Tour

Armed with their very own business cards (complete with adorable job titles), the children explored the office with excitement. Watching them exchange business cards was precious—their first taste of the business world had them beaming with pride!

What Does Apex Do? Session

The children learned about what kind of company Apex is and the work we do. This session helped them understand what their parents actually do all day, bringing new meaning to those dinner table conversations about work.

Managing Director’s Interview

During a special interview with our Managing Director, the children asked everything from innocent questions like "Why did you name the company Apex?", to surprisingly sharp ones like "Who pays everyone at Apex?", and the unexpected "Are there any dinosaurs at Apex?". The session ended with a surprise gift from the Managing Director that had all the kids jumping with joy!

Company Meeting Participation

The children observed an actual meeting, experiencing the atmosphere of a workplace firsthand. They were clearly interested in the adults' serious conversations.

Activity & Snack Time

The kids created heartfelt "Thank You" message cards for their parents and the Managing Director, putting their hearts into writing messages that brought smiles to everyone's faces. Throughout the latter part of the event, many children kept asking, "When is snack time?". When the moment finally arrived, everyone enjoyed reflecting on the day's activities while snacking on treats.

In the Words of Our Organizers

"The children were shy at first, but as time passed, they opened up and started enjoying themselves with big smiles. Before long, they showed their true colors—transforming into energetic little monsters who really livened up the venue! The day passed in a flash, filled with laughter and smiles!

From the planning stages, HR's Naomi, a mother of three, provided clear advice that helped everything run smoothly on the day. My respect for Naomi and all the moms and dads who juggle parenting every day has grown even deeper. This was my first time organizing a company event, but I was supported by so many colleagues. I'm truly grateful and proud of Apex's culture where employees spontaneously ask, 'Is there anything I can help with?'" — Misa Koizumi (Operations Team)

"Since we were working with younger children this time, we made special efforts during planning to keep them engaged and focused. Thanks to everyone who supported us on the day, we completed the event without any major incidents.

Personally, I was amazed by the language skills of the participating children, which inspired me to encourage my own children to learn more actively! For our next event, I'd like to target slightly older children and create something closer to a 'workplace learning experience' where they can try Apex's actual business activities. I'm grateful to all team members and directors who supported us from the preparation stage, and to all employees. And I'm certain that the children who participated today will become our future stars!" — Naomi Kujiraoka (Human Resources)

Our Apex Culture

At Apex, we value creating an environment where every employee can work authentically as themselves. Our flat organizational culture makes it easy for everyone to share their opinions, fostering natural communication. We also regularly hold events that promote connections between employees' families. Through these initiatives, Apex has built high engagement among our team.

Apex Kids Day exemplifies this corporate culture. This opportunity to deepen family bonds and enjoy parent-child communication perfectly reflected Apex's workplace environment. We will continue to provide spaces where employees and their families can strengthen their connections with confidence and joy.
